There are two SSSI sites within the Boards district. The River Idle Washlands SSSI and Mother Drain SSSI.

Part of the River Idle SSSI falls within the Board’s district but the management of it is the responsibility of the Environment Agency.

The Board has been a partner in the production of the River Idle Water Level Management Plan (WLMP). This plan is ultimately the responsibility of the Environment Agency.

The Mother Drain SSSI includes a section of Carr Drain and Mother Drain between Misterton and West Stockwith. As part of the management of this SSSI the Board has produced a WLMP.
