Maintenance

The Everton IDB employs the Idle & Ryton IDB labour force to carry out any incidental maintenance works to the Board’s watercourses, however, the main responsibility is in the operation of that Boards two pumping stations.

The annual weedcutting and flailing works are carried out by contractors. These works generally commence following the corn harvest. As a general principle heavy maintenance works do not commence until mid July. However this principle is being reviewed in the case of strategic watercourses.

Capital.

The Board carried out a major refurbishment of the Gringley pumping station in 2005 to provide modern electric driven pumps and an automatic weedscreen cleaner. The old diesel driven pumps which were installed in the late 1940’s are still in place although only partially operational.

The Board are now engaged in the considering the refurbishment of the Scaftworth pumping station.
